URBAN POWER ICONOGRAPHY
My work explores the relationship between the visible surface of luxury and design and the hidden reality beneath it.
In a visual language which I define as Urban Power Iconography, sports cars, female figures, and architectural elements become carriers of control, identity, and perception.
Precision, innovation, and speed are immediately visible – while the emotions connected to them remain concealed.
A central element in my work is a stylized wall. It does not function as a barrier, but as a threshold that invites the viewer to look beyond the visible and access deeper layers of meaning. Female figures act as mediators between these worlds.
They represent control, sensitivity, and the ability to perceive what lies beneath the surface. Gold leaf reinforces this idea. It not only symbolizes value, but elevates hidden forces into a timeless, almost immaterial dimension.
My work is not only about surface or aesthetics – it creates a space in which the relationship between technology, emotion, and identity can be experienced in a new way.
Josef Fischer (*1960, Koblenz, Germany) lives and works in Hanover, Germany, and Théoule-sur-Mer, France.
He is a contemporary artist. Since 2025 his work explores the tension between visible surface and hidden emotional depth. At the center of his large-scale oil paintings is the relationship between human and machine, particularly within the context of luxury, design, and technological precision.
Iconic sports cars meet expressive female portraits, forming visual worlds in which identity, control, and perception are redefined. A recurring element in his work is a stylized wall, which functions not as a barrier, but as a threshold revealing what lies beneath the surface: energy, innovation, and emotional depth.
Through the use of gold leaf and fragmented pictorial spaces, Fischer intensifies this visual tension. His work moves between figurative and abstract painting and engages with contemporary positions between realism and expression. His works are part of the ongoing series Power Beneath the Surface.
After an international career as a CEO and innovation manager, Fischer has been fully dedicated to his artistic practice since 2023. He studied Abstract Realism at the Milan Art Institute.
Together with his wife Evelyne, he founded the label JOSEF FISCHER ART.
Together, these series move beyond representation. They create spaces of perception, where luxury, technology, identity, and emotion are experienced not only as visible forms, but as deeper forces beneath the surface.
Power Women (2024) explores strength, identity, and presence through female figures. The women in these works are not passive subjects, but carriers of inner power, control, and perception. They represent confidence, sensitivity, and the ability to access emotional layers beneath the visible surface.
Beyond Walls (2025) introduces the stylized wall as a defining element. The wall does not function as a barrier, but as a threshold. It invites the viewer to look beyond what is immediately visible and to discover hidden value, emotional depth, and the forces that exist behind the surface.
Power Beneath the Surface (2026) brings both elements together. Female figures, luxury cars, architectural structures, and gold leaf merge into a visual language I define as Urban Power Iconography. Sports cars become symbols of freedom, precision, innovation, and control, while the wall and the golden line reveal the emotional and invisible forces behind them.
